The story of EnergyPro starts with Sheila Layden, who is a pioneer in the wind industry in Ireland and a founder of the Irish Wind Energy Association.
Sheila developed and sold two windfarms at the former Arigna mines site near her family home. Land which had previously been excavated for fossil fuel was now producing clean, green renewable energy. Sheila operated and managed these windfarms since 1997. Sheila subsequently developed and continued to own a further two windfarms, Altagowlan and Moneenatieve.
Meanwhile, Cavan native Darren Sherry and GE executive Herman Busschotts were also developing and managing windfarms in the Cavan area, initially through their company Galetech Energy Developments and subsequently through their consultancy business Galetech Energy Services, which they founded alongside ex-ESBi engineers Donogh O’Brien and Paul Carney.
Recognising the synergies from working together, Darren and Donogh approached Sheila in 2013 with a view to jointly managing Ballycadden wind farm in Co. Wexford. EnergyPro was born!
Since then, EnergyPro has grown into Ireland's largest independant windfarm management company, and a major player internationally, carrying out technical analysis and reporting on assets across the UK, Europe and Africa.
